Tractor-trailer driver dies in crash on i-85 in Hart County, Ga.

Authorities are trying to determine the cause of an 18-wheeler crash that killed a Florida man on I-85 today in Hart County. The truck was traveling around 70 mph when the crash occurred. The tractor-trailer ran off the road and into the woods, catching fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-wheeler was hauling plastic products.

The crash took the lives of a Cedartown man and a truck driver in a single vehicle accident. Macedo, who was riding in the vehicle with two other passengers, was ejected. The tractor-trailer driver did not stop, and he was hit by a truck. Police said the tractor-trailer driver did not stop for a nearby police officer.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident on Cason Road near South Main Street. Police have not released the name of the truck driver, but said that the driver is expected to be charged and named in court. In Cedartown, Ga., one person was taken to the hospital after the accident. The crash happened at about 8:47 a.m., according to local media.

A flatbed Freightliner truck carrying granite slabs was traveling southbound when it rear-ended a Toyota Camry and struck a Kenworth cargo tanker hauling acid. The accident happened around 8pm on I-85 near Chamblee Tucker Road in Atlanta. A state trooper tried to pull over the car but it sped away and hit the 22-year-old man standing on the shoulder. The driver then lost control and struck Martinez. Martinez died at the scene. The driver of the Porsche, Victor Allen Smith, 55, faces 12 charges including felony murder, first-degree vehicular homicide, and driving with a suspended license.
