Unless you have been living in a cave for the past year, you have probably heard about the draw for the World Cup. Although it’s not completely known exactly who will be in the group, it’s a fairly safe bet to assume that the full lineup will be revealed at least by the end of June.
Qatar
During the FIFA World Cup draw Qatar 2022, the teams are announced for the 2022 World Cup. The draw will take place in Doha on Friday, April 1 at noon ET. During the draw, the hosts will be placed in position A1, and the other teams will be allocated groups in order.
Traditionally, the FIFA World Cup draw includes all the qualified teams. However, this year, the tournament will be played in a shorter time frame of 29 days. This has resulted in the move of the tournament to November and December to avoid the summer heat. During the tournament, matches will be played in eight venues across five cities.
Senegal
Defending African champions Senegal are looking to make a deep run in Qatar’s World Cup. A top class squad, coupled with a potent attack, will provide a challenge for any team.
The squad contains a blend of experienced and young talent. A key player in this mix is goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who plays for Chelsea. Mendy is considered a world-class goalkeeper, and his experience will be important as the World Cup begins.
The Senegal team is led by captain Kalidou Koulibaly. He is the leading goal scorer for the Teranga Lions. He is also one of the top players in Europe, and his performances have helped the team progress to the final of the AFCON 2021.
Group of death
Getting put in a group of death isn’t always easy. However, it’s not the most common thing to happen. Despite the name, a team’s chances of winning a World Cup don’t necessarily depend on their group placement.
For some, a group’s quality is measured in its Elo ratings. These are calculated based on the average rating of four members of the group. For example, if the average rating of all four members of a group is a perfect 10, then it means the group is of exceptional quality.
In terms of size, a group is typically made up of four teams. These teams compete against one another in a single-game elimination format. The winning team of each group qualifies for the next round.
Full lineup not known until at least June

With that in mind, this year’s bash has a bit of a reshuffling in store. On the positive side, it’s a win for the defending champs. This may or may not translate into a re-vamp for the stomping horses in the future. The best part about it all is that the city’s agglomeration can be the envy of the competition, in a good way.

First, the World Cup draw has 32 teams, split into eight groups of four. Each group will feature one team from each pot. The best teams in each group advance to the next round. FS1 has a detailed breakdown of each group.
There are two playoff groups. One is the Intercontinental playoff between Australia and Peru, while the other features Papuya, Thailand and Cameroon. These teams will face each other on February 23 to determine who will advance to the round of 16.
The FIFA World Cup draw will be updated with major moments throughout the tournament. It will also contain two distinct patterns.
