What Do Technology Jobs Pay?

The information technology field is a great place to start your career if you want to make a great return on investment. However, there are many duties and tasks that you will have to deal with on a daily basis. As such, it is important that you are well compensated for the work you do.

Data scientist

Data scientist salaries vary significantly depending on location, education, and years of experience. The average salary for data scientists is approximately $100,000 and can reach close to $200,000 for highly specialized roles. According to a study by IBM, 59% of data scientist jobs are located in finance, insurance, and professional services industries. In addition to these large employers, state governments are major employers of data scientists.

While data scientist jobs pay well, the learning curve is steep. However, the reward for success is high. Mid-career data scientists earn between $80K and $148K annually. To land a mid-level data scientist position, you will need to have an understanding of cybersecurity, computer vision, algorithm development, and computer programming, and may need to learn more advanced programming languages to gain experience.

Cloud engineer

Cloud Engineers earn a range of salaries. Some are paid more than others, depending on the experience of the employees and location. Cloud engineers are in demand throughout the country, from small towns to big cities. The cost of living is also different in different areas, and employers adjust the salaries accordingly. Cloud engineers in large cities earn some of the highest salaries.

Many large companies have turned to cloud services to manage their data and business applications. These services enable companies to store data and software easily, roll out software upgrades on demand, and allow customers to access data across different devices.

Data engineer

As a data engineer, your job requires you to analyze large volumes of data. The work is often not user-facing, so you need to be creative and analytical to create data-driven solutions. Data engineers also build table schemas, which track data in databases. These skills are highly sought-after in companies today.

Salaries vary greatly across countries and industries, but the most competitive data engineer salaries are found in the United States, Germany, and Australia. In the United States, salary is over $120,000 per year. Europe and Australia are also highly competitive for big data engineers. However, you’ll need to factor in quality of life if you plan on moving there.

Solutions Architect

As a solutions architect, you will have an opportunity to learn about and develop technology and its applications. In many cases, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of developers. You will also be responsible for meeting timelines and liaising between the development team and customer-facing staff.

To become a Solutions Architect, you need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. It’s also beneficial if you have some work experience in the industry. You should also look for roles that focus on Internet technologies, programming languages, and system design. Other job titles in this field are computer programmer, software developer, and system architect. You should also pursue various IT skills certifications. For example, the Microsoft Azure Certification, as well as the SEEK course, are highly valued by employers.
